ABOUT

“Viking” a word that conjures up many thoughts and images of ferocious horned helmed warriors who appeared out of the early morning sea mist to murder, rape and pillage among the coastal regions of Britain.

Jorvik Vikingr hope to dispel the myths brought about by our Victorian ancestors, by bringing alive the Viking way of life.

Jorvik Vikingr was formed in 2006 by a small group of reenactors who were disillusioned with the Dark Age re-enactment scene. Although there are some excellent groups out there we craved for something different.

We wanted to create a new dimension, a sense of ethos and dedication, a brotherhood with a focus on belonging to something out of the ordinary, and so out of Holderness Vikings and Ancients Alive “Jorvik Vikingr” was born.

The warriors of Jorvik Vikingr portray a closely bonded Viking warband who have sworn an oath of loyalty to one another.

During our displays audiences will not only see the warriors of Jorvik Vikingr but they will also see the craftsmen and womenfolk within our tented living history display, showing a number of crafts like metalworking, woodcarving, weaving, cooking and even games.

Jorvik Vikingr are renowned for their exciting and entertaining displays, interacting with the audience and bringing our Viking past to life.

                            EDUCATION

Jorvik Vikingr can provide exciting, vibrant displays, whether it is entertainment at your event, from Living History encampments, craft demonstrations to realistic combat displays and battles.

We can provide experienced workshop personnel for school educational visits, covering key stage 2 invaders and settlers . This removes logistical problems of getting a large amount of children to a museum. Within this we provide an artifact handling session enabling the children to have a hands on experience looking at and handling artifacts up close.
Our members work regularly with museums including the Jorvik Viking centre and West Stow reconstructed Anglo saxon village. Our members have a wealth of knowledge with some having over 30 years experience. We have a broad spectrum of members including Teachers and Archeologists  and we take part in shows large and small all over Europe.

Our group has been increasingly used as actors and extras and also historical consultants for film and TV work
